The loss against Sassuolo had all the hopes gone. A day after, Walter Zenga and his Crotone made the Nerazzurri still have a little faith in the possibility to get in Champions League with a win at the Olimpico. A week after, Inter made it. A great comeback against Lazio with a 3-2 win and a fourth spot secured by Spalletti's team. The objective that was set at the beginning of the season has been reached, "but the project would have gone on even if we missed that qualification" has told Ausilio to Radio Rai 1. It's time to plan the next season according to the sporting director:
"Icardi will stay, we want to change his contract to give the gratification he deserves. Transfer window? We'll keep bringing the quality Inter need. Rafinha and Cancelo aren't our players, we'll make economical evaluations. The Champions League will help us under several aspects, not for the books though. We have to find solutions but I'm confident about it. This qualification is at least worth €40m. After yesterday I could say everyone will stay here but we need rationality: Brozovic and Perisic are two players we want to build the team from".
"Players are professionals, there is no De Vrij case. If I had been in Lazio's situation I would have made him play too, he's an important player to them and it was only fair he'd start the game. Leaving aside the Juventus game, Inter have only lost 6 times and never deserved these losses".
