On the late day of the January transfer window, Odion Ighalo realized his dream of joining Manchester United. The former Udinese striker described the negotiation in an interview on the Red Devils official channel:"At 2300 I was in Shanghai and my agent called to tell me Manchester United wanted me. So I woke and looked for a translator to go talk to the directors. I told them that is what I wanted and that I wanted to transfer to England at all cost"
Ighalo made a financial scarifie to ensure the deal went through:"When my agent informed me that I had to reduce my salary, I told him it wasn't a problem. I wanted Manchester United and he had to find a way to close the negotiation"
