After leaving fond memories at the club as a player, former centre-back Gabriel Heinze could return to Olympique Marseille as coach. The Argentinian, currently at Velez Sarsfield, is one of the more appreciated names by the French club for the job as head coach.
Rudi Garcia's departure from Marseille appears almost certain, so the club is evaluating the option to give the job to Heinze. The parties could soon meet up and discuss the situation in detail.
After retiring from football, Heinze began his coaching career in Argentina with Godoy Cruz and Argentinos Juniors after that. Since december 2017, the former Roma and Manchester United player is the manager of Velez Sarsfield, which currently sits in 14th place in the Argentinian Primera Division.
