Antoine Griezmann will leave Atletico Madrid for a transfer to Barcelona. The French player met with Atletico directors Andrea Berta and Miguel Angel Gil Marin today, and communicated his desire to switch teams this summer.

His future will remain in Spain, but with the Barcelona shirt: the blaugrana will pay his 125 million euro release clause. It is an affair that is at the last details by now, as the player has already told his teammates of his decision.

The striker also communicated this to the fans via Twitter, stating: "After speaking to Cholo and Miguel Angel, I have decided to talk to the fans that have always supported me. I have chosen a new challenge. It was a difficult decision to make, but I feel it's what I need."

"I would like to thank you for your support in these last five years, during which I have won my first trophies as a professional. I will always remember you, I will always hold you in my heart. It is never easy for a player to express these emotions, and I only wanted you to know my decision as soon as possible. Thank you for everything. They have been five fantastic years in which I have done my best to make you happy. Thanks again from the bottom of my heart."
