Sebastian Giovinco recently spoke to Sky Sport 24 about his experience in MLS, and his refusal to an offer from Barcelona. It was a decision which can potentially be questioned, but the attacker himself explained his motives for refusing a move: "It is true that Barcelona wanted me. If I went there then I would have been a ball boy," Giovinco jokingly stated. "With players as phenomenal as the ones at Barcelona, it would have been difficult to find playing time. I declined the offer not because I wanted to refuse such an opportunity, but at that point in my career, I wanted to play. It was right of me to face this reality. I was coming off a period where I was not getting much playing time, and despite the importance of a club like Barcelona, it did not feel right for me to join a club where I would not be consistently playing."
On potentially playing for the Italian national team: “If Ventura called me to play for Italy? No, I have not heard from him. I feel bad for not being a part of the national team, but the coach makes the decisions. Do I deserve it? What I did was seemingly not enough,” concluded Giovinco.
