Genoa to part ways with Prandelli, SPAL's Semplici top choice to replace him

After managing to avoid relegation in the dying minutes of the last round of games of Serie A, Genoa are pondering their future. The disappointing second half of the season conviced the club to part ways with Cesare Prandelli. In the coming days, the former Fiorentina coach will meet the club to discuss a departure, the most likely solution at the moment. Prandelli, who had a clause in his contract that would automatically extend his contract for one more year should he had avoided relegation, has decided to leave the Rossoblu and will soon discuss with president Preziosi to find an agreement on the terms of the separation.

On the flipside, Preziosi has already chosen SPAL's Leonardo Semplici as the top choice to replace Prandelli. Last year, the Grifoni's president made contact with Semplici to give him the job, but then he was persuaded by the board members to keep Ballardini. This time, however, things are different as Prandelli's time is set to come to an end. Preziosi has already made contact to try and convince Semplici to leave SPAL and the parties will soon arrange a meeting to discuss this possibility. Ultimately, the final decision will be made by Semplici, as he will have to choose between staying at SPAL, where he has still one year left on his contract, or accept Preziosi's offer and join Genoa.
