The wait is almost over, and Genoa and Sampdoria are getting ready for a derby. Riccardo Saponara wants to be one of the mains actors of a game he can't wait to play.
Interviewed by La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Doriano has said: "It's really difficult to picture it but I know the atmosphere will be incredible. Genoa is a physical side, we'll need to impose our playing style so that we don't suffer. From a personal point of view, I'm feeling well and recovered from my injury, I'm looking ahead with confidence. When Giampaolo is your coach, you know exactly what you have to do once you're on the pitch. The fact we're coming from a negative moment won't influence that".
The only derby Saponara has played so far is the 22nd of December one in 2013, Inter-Milan 1-0 with Palacio's goal in the last minutes. A game the Doriano hasn't forgotten about and he tried to understand the particular feeling about it: "You play these games with some kind of madness, without forgetting your identity though. We're a good team but can't do it another way than expecting all the players to make sacrifices in the defensive phase. First derby without the Morandi bridge? A positive responsibility added, we want to bring joy to our fans".
