Genoa president Enrico Preziosi has been enjoying the early-season success of Piatek, scorer of 13 goals in 9 official games. In an interview appearing in La Gazzetta Dello Sport, Preziosi discussed his recruitment of the striker who has become a phenomenon in Serie A: "The first person who brought him to my attention was a friend, scout Gabriele Giuffrida. I only saw video highlights - but there, they are all superstars - a Wyscout link, and then, I had to see the player play a full match. It was Cracovia against I don't remember who, but I remember where I saw it. In Ibiza, at my house, it was the end of May. Me, in front of the TV, and no one else: I have my own way of evaluating a player, I have to be alone, without an other input. I saw a striker who had everything: right, left, header, aggressiveness. He was always arriving to where the ball was. I called Giuffrida and told him, 'I will take him,' then I told Perinetti that he would have to meet with Cracovia right away. The next day it was all done. The phones are already ringing off the hook, from Italy, from Europe, all the top clubs. Whoever wants Piatek has to be serious and speak with me. De Laurentiis said that we already discussed him? He said that: I don't ever say who I speak with who is interested in one of my players."
