Before Gigio Donnarumma's explosion Mattia Perin was considered the heir to Gigi Buffon. The Genoa keeper has suffered a few major injuries in recent years but he has "a fire burning inside" now to return as he told Gazzetta dello Sport, Perin talked about what makes keepers different during the interview:"We're different, we do something that goes against the human instinct: we throw ourselves to the ground. Every day we do it about two hundreds times. We then get hit by the ball, get kicked in the face and have no fear. We are the most courageous and have a a mental agility superior to most"
Perin was also asked about the fact that Donnarumma has become more famous than he is:"Donnarumma is a prodigy. Before the injury I had some great seasons, it's normal that after a year and a half in which you only play twenty games or so you are spoken about less. This is football, when I return I will be different from before. Not sure if better or not, but I'll be a different person. Phsycally like before, but different for hunger, anger and objectives. I have a fire inside me"
