In his first season in Serie A, Genoa striker Christian Kouamé is impressing everyone with his qualities together with the other sensation of the season so far, Krzystof Piatek. The former Cittadella player, born in 1997, explained the reasons behind his breakthrough in an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport: "I go out there on the pitch without being afraid. Genoa and Serie A have given a huge boost to my motivation, now I have to show that on the pitch. I am here because I deserved it, but I can't be complacent. Serie A it's a whole different story compared ot Serie B".
The Ivorian will also play in his first derby of his career, as the Rossoblu will face the city rivals Sampdoria in the next Serie A round: "I am sure that Criscito and my teammates will explain to me what does it mean to play in a derby. I have never played one, but I have watched some on TV. A win in the derby will help us bounce back. Piatek? I want to help him find the back of the net again. I help everybody on the pitch because the main goal is doing what's good for Genoa".
Finally, Kouamé talked about his fellow contryman and idol Didier Drogba: "Didier is football, he is more than a hero in Ivory Coast. Everywhere I go, everybody is talking about Drogba. He is more than a role model to me".
