After spending several seasons in the Russian league with Zenit, Mimmo Criscito returned home, to the club of his heart: Genoa. The defender dicussed his role as Grifone's captain and his relationship with the Italy shirt, in the light of his recent good performances.

"I was the captain at Zenit too, but here at Genoa I feel even more the responsibility, because everyone expects a lot from me. I am proud to be the captain of the team I love. Italy? I had my chances, I have zero regrets. Maybe that chapter has closed forever, but I will always be available should an Azzurri call come", Criscito said to Il Secolo XIX.

Criscito also discussed his team current form heading into the clash against Ronaldo's Juventus: "In the last game against Parma we played better than the previous two matches. We have to finish our chances, in training I always tell Kouamè to shoot more. He lacks a bit of composure in front of the goal, I hope he listens to me during the game. Ronaldo? He lives everything as a challenge, he has a constant desire to improve. It's impossible to stay on that level at 34, if you are not motivated. He is my children's hero and I think he is more well-rounded than Messi".
