A sad face, but a great desire to return and help his Genoa team as soon as he can. Domenico Criscito, stopped this morning in an airport while returning from Sardinia, is to be operated today at the San Martino orthopedic clinic, as he broke his small left toe after slamming it against a piece of furniture. Here are his words:
"I took a blow to my little toe and broke it, so now we're here for surgery and I hope to recover from this as quickly as possible. My return? The goal is to be back for the beginning of the season, we'll see after the operation. Maybe I'll be able to come back sooner, we'll see. To reassure the fans? I'm giving it my all to return quickly to the pitch, I was training to get back in shape and in preparation. I'll work hard to get back as soon as possible." There's disappointment for this inconvenience that delays his start to the season, yes, but a great desire to return and play for his Genoa team.
In the squad, however, there will be a key piece missing: Mattia Perin. The ex-capitan of the rossoblu has signed with Juventus, leaving the armband to Criscito, and the Azzurri defender wanted to wish Perin the best on his new adventure. "I wished him luck. Mattia is a friend of mine, I've known him for many years. He has grown a lot and I hope he'll find his place at Juventus."
