Genoa are working to bolster their defence and they are closing in on the signing of Sokratis Papastathopoulos from Arsenal. The Greek centre-back, who already played for Il Grifone from 2008 to 2010, have already said 'yes' to a potential move back to Marassi and would give priority to Genoa, even though he is waiting for an offer coming from Fenerbahce.
Genoa, who also made an approach with Arsenal for Mustafi in the past few days, will have the final say in the deal with Sokratis, as they would be given the option to match the Turkish club's offer. The Rossoblu are prepared to offer the 32-year-old defender a two-and a half-year contract and he would become a pillar of their defence for the coming years, that's why the Italian club is confident that the deal will come to a positive conclusion.
