Udinese-Fiorentina will never be a match like the others, as it's inevitable to remember the thought of Davide Astori passing away in his hotel room last year, right before the match at Dacia Arena. At the 13' there was the usual tribute to the former viola capitan, with the entire Udinese fan section participating. At the end of the match, Fiorentina manager Stefano Pioli spoke about Astori's memory.
"Already since yesterday, the entire team and I relived this situation. It's impossible to not relive that day and not reopen that wound. It's a very particular thing, I hope that Davide is proud of us, we miss him a lot and I miss him very much. But he's with us and that's the most important thing."
Pioli then spoke on the 1-1 draw against Udinese: "We prepared for the match like this, we could have done something more in the first half but after the break we could have won it. The fact that we left with regret says a lot, the players are disappointed for the tie and this means that the team has the right mentality. We wanted to obtain another victory to close out a great week: it was positive anyway, a victory here would have made it perfect."
