Fiorentina, Florence mayor on new stadium: "I stand behind Commisso"

Fiorentina Mayor Dario Nardella discussed the topic of a new stadium at a press conference. Nardella commented on the current situation and described the relationship between Commisso and the city: "I stand with Rocco, I have for a year since he arrived, I believed in his ideas. Even during lockdown I have stayed in contact with his family. Whenever he wants to come to Florene, I will welcome him with open arms." And on the Artemio Franchi stadium, which Nardella admitted could be come a kind of monument to football in Florence: "No one wants to take responsibility for abandoning a stadium that is a monument to the history of football and to the sport." Regarding the idea floated by Commisso of a stadium in a new site Campi Bisenzio: "Fiorentina has the right to work out ideas such as those. I have no isse with them doing that. My priority is to work for the good of Florence and that is what Fiorentina follows too. For new stadiums the problem is not only here with this city, but the entire country. It's a national shame."
