"It will be a special game for me, seeing again many former teammates, but I'll play wanting to win and helping my team" is how Marco Benassi spoke to Tuttosport for his first game against Torino as a former player.
"Revenge isn't part of how I think. Last year, I didn't play well against Fiorentina and Lazio, it's normal to be subbed off when you don't perform well. I've never complained. Mihajlovic told me that with his tactical system change I wouldn't play a lot so I started to think about solutions".
A complicated farewell to Torino with a letter in which he talked about a difficult but inevitable choice: "After three years I expected the club some explaining but they didn't do anything". He scored his first goal with Fiorentina's jersey against Benevento, which also came because of his role on the pitch: "I can play as a "mezz'ala", I've always given my full disposability to my coaches. I've dedicated my goal to my family which shares the good and bad moments with me. I've always been convinced hard work pays, also regarding the Italian national team. I've not found continuity under this shirt, only playing two complete games. I got at Florence without a good preparation because of the U21 Euro. Objectives? We're a young team but it would be nice to get back in Europe".
About Torino: "It's a complete team, beyond their results they've had positive games. We're ready and the last wins have given us confidence. Belotti? His absence removes a landmark for them, it's a good thing we don't have to face him. I hope he gets back soon and brings Italy to the World Cup. There will still be Ljajic who's Torino's most unpredictable player. My best friends at Torino are Belotti and Baselli, who I lived with. I've had three fantastic years at Torino, some difficult times like the elimination in Europa League or the error in the derby but it's been an honor to be the captain. My best memory is the derby win in 2015".
