Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid are unable to purchase any players until 2018. The two Spanish clubs, who were sanctioned by FIFA for irregularities related to international transfers of minors, had their appeals rejected. Both squads will not be able to purchase any players for the next two consecutive transfer markets: this upcoming winter window and summer 2017. They can resume operations in the winter transfer window of January 2018. Real and Atletico can sell and loan players during this ban, however. The decision was made official today.
