Will Stramaccioni return to Esteghlal? If it were up to him, he would go back to the Iranian club after leaving them a few months ago, recent talks between the parties have gone well and an agreement seemed within reach.
However a bureaucratic matter is in the way now. In fact Esteghlal are in a dispute with the Iranian federation and the local Minister of Sports over a regulation banning signing coaches and players from abroad: the club believes that because Stramaccioni already worked in Iran, he's exempt from this regulation.
The president issued a statement threatening to resign since he feels the Federation is penalizing him, in the meantime Stramaccioni is waiting, he won't sign the contract until the situation is resolved.
