Napoli, Ancelotti: "Insigne? He had a lapse in behaviour, but that was it. We are serene"

While the squad prepares to face Hellas Verona in Serie A's return after the international break, Napoli's cach Carlo Ancelotti discussed some of the topical situation at the club in the pre-match press conference, starting from Insigne: "He had a great start to the season, he scored a brace against Fiorentina, he put in a shift against Liverpool, he changed his position on the pitch. I pointed out to him that he had a lapse in behaviour but that was it. He gives his best when he is happy, but when he isn't he can't express his full potential. I made that clear to him with a powerfule gesture like leaving him out of the squad for the Genk game. I'm confident that he will do great from now on. He gives his best as a forward or in the central-left zone of the pitch".

"We are serene - continued Ancelotti - however we have to improve of course. We'll take everything that we achieved in this first stint of the season like the win against Liverpool, the integration of the new signings, the points that we dropped. We have to evaluate the sitation in an objective way. I expect more from everyone, you can always do better".

The coach then touched upon the renewals of Mertens and Callejon and the situation regarding Lozano, who picked up a minor injury with Mexico: "The performances of Callejon and Mertens have been excellent, we will discuss the contract extension at a later time. The club made an offer because our desire is to keep them. Then it's up to them to give an answer and make a decision. The club thought carefully about the offer. Lozano? We expect more from him, but we also have to take into account that he made only six tactical training sessions with the team. He needs to adapt [to Napoli's environment], we dont' have other striker as good as him at attacking the space. His injury? We'll see if he will travel with us, but I think it's more a matter of fatigue after a long travel than the ankle injury", concluded Ancelotti.
