When you mix cross town rivalries with the race to avoid relegation there’s bound to be some tension. Genoa’s president Enrico Preziosi had some harsh words following Empoli’s away win on Sunday against Sampdoria:”It was a joke- he told Il Secoli XIX- after the first goal, I turned it off. I had imagined Empoli’s win”
Empoli’s president Corsi responded to Preziosi’s comment during an interview with Radio Anch’Io:”His accusations? Ours was a beautiful win, the team is healthy and they deserved it. As far as I am concerned, I always accepted the verdict from the pitch and I don’t want to get into arguments that belong in a bar. That being said the next two games look impossible on paper. But we have nothing to lose and we’ll try to complete this accomplishment”.
