After Arsène Wenger left (and Ivan Gazidis arrived at Milan), many things have changed at Arsenal. The Gunners are fifth in the league behind City, Liverpool, Chelsea and Tottenham but the fans can feel a fresh start this season. Interviewed by Marca, the former PSG coach has talked about his adventure in Premier League and his beginnings at the club:

"Arsenal was looking for a new coach after Wenger left, but I wasn't the only name on the list. Gazidis wanted to meet every candidate for the role until Arturo Canales, who's now my agent, has convinced him to choose me".

Being Wenger's heir could be heavy but it doesn't seem to be a problem for Emery: "22 years on the same bench, in today's football context, isn't an easy thing to do. I think Arsenal needed a change, not only regarding the coach but in every aspect. They needed to bring something new, to stimulate everyone again. Have I met Arsène? Yes, one time. He's given me a lot of advices and informations, but it doesn't matter. The club needed a clean start, I still repeat to my players it's only the beginning".

About Torreira who hasn't been a starter from day one: "You have to respect the hierarchy. As we signed Leno, Cech was playing well and you have to respect that. The same thing happened with Guendouzi and Torreira".
