After the sacking of Leonardo Semplici, SPAL are set to appoint Luigi Di Biagio as new head coach. The former Italy U21 manager has signed a six-month deal with the Ferrara-based club, which is battling to avoid relegation.
Di Biagio will take his first training with SPAL this afternoon, becoming hence the first coach in Serie A history to have coached only the national team before a club. At SPAL, Di Biagio will rejoin with Bonifazi, Murgia and Petagna, who were important players of his U21 squads.
