Empoli-Roma aside, Daniele De Rossi has not forgotten his Euro 2016 experience with Antonio Conte. The Roma midfielder went over the special moments that made everyone believe it would have been a historic Euro for Italy:
‘It wasn't the first time in Football history that a special, cohesive group of players was formed. Aside from the great memories, what sticks is the satisfaction of having worked with one of the few like Conte, as loyal as one can be. However the disappointment of not having been able to help my team against Germany remains as well. It’s something that has been haunting me every night before bed for months’.
It’s because of Conte that De Rossi still hasn’t given up on the National team: ‘Had we not created such a special synergy between us all, had it not been for Conte, I would have had to leave the National team’.
