After the racist chants spoiled the Euro 2020 qualifying match between England and Bulgaria, Dani Alves spoke on his experiences with racism throughout his career in an interview with GQ.
"Going to Paris was interesting from a cultural point of view, but it becomes stressful in the long run. If you go there for a week, it'll be the best vacation of your life, but you get disappointed once you're there for a while. Paris reminds me a bit of San Paolo, but there's more racism. They never did anything to me, but I saw it happen and I know what some of my friends experienced."
Alves certainly enjoyed himself more in Spain, in cities like Seville and Barcelona: "In those cities, the people seem Brazilian, I felt good there. You live for the city and there's more energy. The people are more "bad," but I prefer this type of person."
