From an Argentinean to another, there was once Hernan Crespo and there is today Mauro Icardi. Symbol of an Inter that tries to get back to its greatness and that fights for a Champions League spot, trusting Maurito. Crespo has talked about him to La Gazzetta dello Sport: "If Inter really want to be great again they can't leave Icardi aside. He must be one of the fixed points of the team. I would never let him leave. What kind of signal would Inter send to their fans selling their most representative player, the strongest and the captain of the team? I don't know any team that would get stronger by selling their best player. It's important to build a group of players that can support your top player and make him play at his best level. He hasn't any rival in the penalty area. He's deadly when a cross gets to him. He thinks and executes quickly, a beast physically, is able to shoot with both feet and gets almost every ball with the head. After C. Ronaldo and Leo Messi, who are from another planet, there are many forwards that compete for the third spot: Icardi deserves to be in this group in my opinion".
It couldn't be enough to play in the World Cup though: "I think he's not a friend of Messi, am I right? The Seleccion is today build of a magic circle. Icardi doesn't get in that circle and, unfortunately, he won't go to Russia. It's, in my opinion, a mistake. They could use such a striker".
About Inter's future: "Next season, I'd start obviously from Luciano Spalletti on the bench. I would then look for great players that have lived important experiences but are experiencing some reflecting moments, I'd try to create a group based on character values lore than technical ones. An example can help to understand: Juve's cycle has started with a solid group composed by Buffon, Barzagli, Chiellini and Bonucci. Besides Buffon, the other ones weren't the best in their respective roles but had those qualities of temperament that guaranteed the quality leap. This is what Inter should do. I can also make a case for Ancelotti's Milan who had a winning cycle too with Maldini, Pirlo, Gattuso, Ambrosini and Nesta. This is the key to any success".
