Releasing a photo and statement from his Instagram page, Claudio Marchisio revealed that he had undergone surgury on his knee. The 32-year-old, currently at Zenit, has appeared in 15 matches this season. Immediately after the surgury, the former Juventus midfielder gave his comments: "When you play the game, you will face injuries. Continuing on this journey means to come back every time and show you are stronger than the setbacks on the way, and again this time I will come back, because I still want to play this game, becuase your support makes this easier, and because now, with this surgury, that's all my knees."
The injury Marchisio will recover from is a right meniscus tear, different from his 2016 injury to the left knee. He will require three months of rehabilitation, after which he can resume physical activity. He will conduct his recovery in Turin before returning to Russia.
