Chelsea and Barcelona, after completing many deals, are now on course to complete another one.

Chelsea have reached an agreement to sign striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Barcelona.

The Blues have seen a €14 million bid accepted by Barcelona which will see defender Marcos Alonso move in the opposite direction. An agreement was struck between all parties after a conclusive meeting on Thursday.

Aubameyang has also reached an agreement on personal terms with Chelsea on a two-year contract that includes the option for a further year.

Aubameyang-Chelsea, the situation

The striker is set to travel to London on Thursday to undergo his medical tests and sign with the west London side, whilst Alonso is already in Spain.

The Gabon international, however, will have to wait before making his debut for Chelsea, after he sustained serious injuries to his face and ribs, following a violent robbery attack on the striker at his home and it it expected to keep him out of action for a few weeks.

Manchester United made a late approach for Aubameyang at the end of last week, but it didn’t develop any further.

Chelsea head coach Thomas Tuchel was understood to be the main driving factor behind the deal, who was determined to be reunited with the 33-year-old, where the pair enjoyed a successful spell together at Borussia Dortmund.

Xavi ideally wanted to keep Aubameyang, but Barcelona needed to raise money to help ease their financial problems.
