The competition from Timo Werner does not scare Chelsea attacker Olivier Giroud. The Frenchman spoke on the new signing with L'Équipe.
"It wasn't an acquisition for a back-up, but I am ready to give Lampard a headache when deciding who to play. It is always useful to have a tall attacker when the opponents close themselves and I am that person. But not only in those situations. For me, Werner is extra motivation to do well."
Giroud scored 10 goals in 23 appearances this season and also received interest from Inter. Notwithstanding the rumors on his future, the 33-year-old Giroud does not seem likely to leave Chelsea.
"I still have a year on my contract, then if there are the conditions I will stay, otherwise I'll look for another experience. I believe I can play for another two seasons, I don't put limits on myself."
