Discussions for the deal that would bring Edinson Cavani to Benfica are seeming to slow down. The important acquisition was down to the details, with the Uruguayan attacker expected to arrive in Lisbon on Monday morning. However, Cavani is beginning to take his time: a rich 10 million euro deal on a three-year contract is ready for him, and Benfica is intended to pay the wages over the course of the next six years.

This method of payment is not satisfactory for the Matador. The Portuguese team is beginning to worry - the Silva situation has shown how unpredictable the football market is -- but the principle agreement between Cavani and Director Tiago Pinto remains. More than a missed deal, the talks are now at a stalemate that might not be fixed. The situation is ever-changing as the economic concerns need to be resolved; ben Benfica continues to await the PSG attacker, who has scored 200 goals in 301 matches since 2013.
