This week the main topics in Italian football are the Italy match versus Germany, and local rivalries in Serie A. Fabio Capello spoke about this and more to La Gazzetta dello Sport:
‘Italy-Germany is a match for the ages. It’s the type of challenge that helps a squad take the next step in terms of growth. Italy is renovating its team at a balanced pace. Germany is a monstrous team, but they still always struggle against us because in terms of tactics, Italy is the best. Most teams just play their game without worrying too much of the opposition. We like to study our opponents’.
Are there any similarities between Capello’s Juventus and Allegri’s team?: ‘Juve has always been great during the transfer market. Allegri compared his team to mine? I have to note that my team actually played well and had some serious competition to deal with. Today, Juve has no real adversaries. Napoli lost their way due to Higuain being sold and Milik being injured. Inter is once again changing their coach, the only plausible competition is Roma’.
