The former Parma, Inter, Juventus and Real Madrid defender now sits on Guangzhou Evergrande's bench. He gave an interview to Il Corriere dello Sport, talking about Hamsik: "There's a romantic and sentimental aspect about this. I've talked about it with my brother Paolo, we will never take a player from Napoli to disturb them. We're talking about our city's team, I wouldn't alter their moods and the club's balance".
"I've had the chance to talk with Venglos, Hamsik's agent, but there's nothing more worth to add: he's Napoli's captain, I won't be the one making him leave. I can't deny he's been offered but I think that's a normal thing: we're talking about a player whose value is incredible".
