Brazilian defender Leandro Castan has rapidly become one of the pillars of Diego Lopez's defence, after joining Cagliari on loan from Roma in the January transfer window. Returning to play with continuity was already a big win for Castan, who was diagnosed with a brain cavernoma in 2014: "The condition taught me to overcome difficulties. -the Brazilian says to La Gazzetta dello Sport - After that Montella wanted me at Sampdoria in 2016, but then Giampaolo came and I realised that my style of playing was not suited to his style. Then I went to Torino, I started well but had an injury and went back to Roma. I had some problems with Spalletti but it's all behind us now. And now I'm here, Lopez and Cagliari board convinced me to come here and I want to thank them because they put faith in me. Playing to stay in the league is emotional, I'm feeling well and I'm always looking to help. I like playing and I'd like to stay here, but it's up to president Giulini to buy me on a permanent deal. Roma? In my opinion they don't win trophies because they feel the pressure of playing and having to win at the Olimpico, that's not easy", concludes Castan.
