Many consider Gigi Buffon to be the best goalkeeper ever, but what is certain is that he's a legend of Italian football. The Juventus captain gave an interview to Corriere dello Sport in which he discussed his career:"I started off as a midfielder and I was pretty good. I liked to be up front and score goals like all the kids in the world. I was good in the midfield but had I stayed in that role I wouldn't have had this career. I feel in love with keeper role during the 1990 World Cup in Italy. I didn't imitate Maradona or Lineker not even Roger Milla but rather Thomas N'Kono, Cameroon's keeper, who back then was 38 years old but entered my dreams and conditioned me. It's because of him that I arrived where I did. He was a keeper out of the ordinary, he did somethings I never saw"

In 2006 right after winning the World Cup, Buffon went down to Italy's second division just to stay with Juventus:"Yes, back then I was contacted by important clubs. But I decided to stay at Juve in the first place because of gratitude, a value that we should use more. And then I wanted to prove concretely that values in football in which I believe in could be practiced rather than just talked about rhetorically. Football is not just business but also emotions. Without those even business dies, we should know that. I always tried to prove it"
