A terrific nation with great individuality. However, in terms of the squad selection and starting XI, there always seems to be too many players to be able to decide and deploy the best options possible to get the desired results. It is without question that Tite's Brazil disappointed in the World Cup in Russia. In a competition in which the nation started among the favourites, with the likes of Neymar, Coutinho, and so many other superstars, they exited much earlier than they thought they should have. Now it is time for change and innovation, starting from the foundations of the club. Tite has understood this and has decided to retrace his steps.
For some time, Tite had determined that the national team would not have one specific captain, and that the arm band would be "passed on" and worn by someone new each and every match. The captain, in that sense, was everyone and anyone which allowed the locker room the deviate from just one real point of reference. Now, a few months later after the World Cup, there is a long-awaited change. This is the official statement from Tite.
"Neymar is the (fixed) captain of this team." He wears the number 10 and will now also wear the arm band full time, putting all the responsibilities on his shoulders. The PSG striker, now, will have to drag his towards important goals, become a leader of a group that wants to become bigger and better, just like himself: Neymar's time is now.
