The appointment of Sinisa Mihajlovic as head coach in late January was like manna from heaven for Bologna. At the time, the Rossoblu were in 18th place, deep into the relegation zone, struggling to score goals. After the Serbian coach's arrival, however, Bologna managed to go on an impressive run that could bring them to reach a very surprising finish just in the upper half of the table.

In an interview with Corriere dello Sport, Mihajlovic discussed his return to Bologna after then years and how he managed to turn things around in such a short time: "I accepted the club's offer despite the difficult situation because the sack of 2008/2009 was still an open wound for me, especially because I didn't deserve it and it was people outside the club that made that decision. I don't like to leave things halfway and so I accepted to return very passionately. I always knew one thing, that I would have avoided relegation. When I came here I talked to the team in the changing room and made very clear that we had to bring back the people to the stadium. I onyl have fun when I win".

"When we played at the Olimpico against Roma - Mihajlovic continues - Kolarov said to me 'In the first leg I could get forward and forward but no one would come and close me, now it feels like you have 22 players on your team'. Also De Rossi asked me how I managed to turn things around. The lads were great, as they listened to me and followed my instructions. Now I want to get the 10th place, it would be an unbelievable achievement. I don't think anyone did it starting from the situation we were in a few months ago, when we were almost relegated. This Bologna team deserves to go down in Italian football's history", concluded the coach.
