Marcelo Bielsa and Lazio, a deal will not be completed between the parties . Bielsa renounced on the opportunity to become Lazio's coach and he explained why in a press release:
"Me and my staff have taken this decision because after 4 weeks of work and planning, you have not signed the 7 players we had agreed upon with president Lotito.
Considering the fact that we also agreed to sell 18 players, these signings were a must. We also agreed that Lazio were going to sign at least 4 players before July 5th , but as of now, no one arrived. There is not enough time now. The club published the contract that we had agreed upon, but without these signings, it is impossible. As I said, the retreat is starting soon and considering the style of coach I am, I needed the players early on so that I can explain to them my concepts in training. It is important for me to note that I do not have any other offers on the table. I will soon send you the legal document that will certify my renouncement on this opportunity. If necessary, I will explain my situation to the media as well”.
