Medhi Benatia's Italian adventure ended last January, as he transferred from Juventus to the Qatar squad Al-Duhail. He spoke exclusively with Sky Sport on his experiences.
"I was vacationing in Dubai in December. I spoke with my wife and my children, who asked me: 'Papa, why don't you play?' It burned me inside, I wasn't happy anymore. I left a squad of friends, to whom I was very attached. But I wanted to give my contribution to the pitch. When Bonucci came back, I spoke with Allegri who reassured that they needed me and that I'd find space. Then things changed, but there's no problem between me and him. I even wish the best to him, I never look behind at what could have been but wasn't. What Allegri has achieved means that he's a great manager who understands football. Is he the right one to win Champions League? I hope so, but I don't know and I don't allow myself to make judgements.
Benatia spoke about if his former teammates can win the Champions League: "Juve isn't finished. They have the quality to win this round and go into the final. Atletico is a difficult team to face. In my opinion, Juve could have played much better in Madrid, I expected them to control the game."
