Nagelsmann and Bayern Munich are set to enter an agreement for the former to become coach of the latter, but the deal could cost a sum of €25m before completion. That amount is being requested as damages from the coach's contract with Leipzig.
After the Bavarians announced that Hansi Flick would depart at season's end, they zeroed in on the Leipzig boss as the ideal replacement. Nagelsmann formally requested his departure from his current club, and has already found an agreement with the defending European champions. However, Leipzig does not wish to allow him to leave.
The clubs are in negotiations but the €25m figure remains the requets of the club owned by Red Bull. The fee would be the highest paid in the history of the sport for a coach, one that Bayern must accept to garner their top choice. The current record is the €15m paid by Chelsea to Porto for Andre Villas-Boas.
On Monday morning, Leipzig announced another departure: sporting director Markus Krosche, who will leave the club at the end of the season. The director's contract which was up for expiration in 2022 will have his contract terminated, and will be free from 1 July.
