Leo Messi and Barca could last forever, alongside a lot of money. The contract extension until 2021 for the Argentinean forward has a €700m clause and the Spanish newspapers El Mundo and Marca have given away other details: Messi will earn €70m per season that will become, under Catalonia's tax system, about 35m net every year.
There also is an extension clause that could be used in 2022. In addition to these 35m net of taxes, Messi owns totally his image rights and there also are bonuses for individual and team winnings. In comparison, Cristiano Ronaldo earns 21m net of taxes per year.
The "Pulga" won't be the highest paid player though as his former teammate Neymar earns 75m net of charges every year at PSG. Leo would have, according Marca, refused 50m every year from Manchester City to stay at Barcelona though.
