The transfer rumours around Neymar regarding a possible move from PSG to Real Madrid last summer had Barcelona's star Leo Messi worried, as he told in an interview with RAC1: "For a moment during the tranfser window I thought that Neymar wouldn't have joined Barcelona but that he would have gone to Real Madrid instead, since he really wanted to leave PSG. He had expressed his strong desire to leave Paris and I thought that Florentino Perez and Real Madrid could make a move to sign him".
The Argentine discussed also a tought time of his career in Spain and his relationship with Griezmann: "The toughest moment was in 2013/2014 when I had a problem with the Spanish tax authorities. I wanted to leave, not because I wanted to leave Barcelona, but beacuse I wanted to leave Spain. I felt that they had treated me badly and I didn't want to stay there anymore. Now my idea is to stay in Spain. The club and I haven't discussed a contract extension yet, but I never had any problem with them. Griezmann? It's not easy to come to play for Barcelona, especially for players that haven't been here in the academy. He is used to a very different playstyle but we have no doubts that he will adapt [to a new style] eventually. It's not true that I didn't want him at the club. I didn't have any kind of problem with him", concluded Messi.
