Alvaro Morata is joining Atletico Madrid on a permanent basis, with the Spanish club deciding to activate the option on the striker. After a year and a half loan that will come to an end at the end of next season, Atletico Madrid will have added Morata to the squad as a new player for coach Diego Simeone. The official announcement came in a statement released by Chelsea:
"Chelsea and Atletico Madrid have today agreed terms for the permanent transfer of Alvaro Morata. Morata, who is on loan until the end of the 2019/20 season, will now join Atletico in a permanent switch after two years as a Chelsea player, in which he scored 24 times in 72 appearances."
