It has been a season to prove himself for Spinazzola, as the Italian winger racked up 25 caps and 5 assists for Atalanta this season while on loan from Juventus. There are still five fixtures remaining this season, but it was inevitable for him to talk about his future. Here is what he said to il Corriere della Sera:
“Having said that my full focus is on Atalanta, a return to Juventus would be a dream. Together with Milan, they are a team I’ve always admired. All my idols have played there: Buffon, Del Piero, Pirlo. Even though I’ve had the chance to train with some great players during my time with the youth squad, I still get excited every time I see Buffon from close”.
On Atalanta’s season: “It’s been fantastic, especially because nobody could see it coming. It’s been a season that has led to national call-ups, for both my teammates and me. Favorite position? I used to play as an offensive winger, but to be a great one you have to score a lot of goals. In all honesty, I never have. Playing further back on the pitch opens up more doors for me. I prefer playing on the left, but I can adapt to either side. The model to follow is that of Zambrotta, one of the best fullbacks in history. He started off more offensive, and dropped back, a bit like me”.
