For the second season in a row, Atalanta qualified out of the group stage of the Champions League. Following the impressive win against Ajax, Gian Piero Gasperini spoke to Sky Sport:"We were very good, we limited them although they are a very offensive team. We were very good at defending and we scored a deserved goal. This is a more extraordinary result than last season, because we faced giants like Liverpool and Ajax, we won often on away matches"
Gasperini was also asked about the rumors he would resign following some misunderstandings with Papu Gomez:"Beyond what is said, I always wait for the pitch to do the talking. I make decisions for the good of the team, and that can't be challenged, the misunderstanding started there. We were giving up too many goals and not scoring enough, so we had to find solutions. When I leave Bergamo, I will do so in accordance with the club, there won't be traumatic exits"
