Atalanta took a step towards booking a return to the Champions League, beating Parma and taking over possession of second place in Serie A, depending on the outcome of Milan and Juventus' head-to-head. Afterwards, nerazzurri coach Gian Piero Gasperini spoke about his team's victory, talking to Sky Sport:
"Our goal is to reach the Champions League and there are only two matches left, we cannot think about anything else. Thanks to the players for their incredible durability, I am sorry for several players who are great but have been less utilized this season, like Lammers, Sutalo, Kovalenko, and others.
"The points that we need to have already qualififed for the Champions League were dropped, but everyone has dropped points on their journey. There are some matches where we could have capitalized better."
"For a team like Atalanta, if certain extraordinary things don't happen, the chance to win the league will always be as it is, there is a huge economic difference between the teams. Atalanta has to always look for ways to improve, with this critera Atalanta can never win a title. Football needs an even field for everyone, it should favor those successful teams appropriately and those who are able to obtain the best results."
