Gian Piero Gasperini has built something in Bergamo, a squad that fights for Europa League, and against the top teams in the league.
Tomorrow, his side will face Torino, an "important, but not decisive" game, says Gasp. "Cairo has always esteemed me, before he hired Ventura and after. Opposite philosophies? No, everyone wants to reach an objective, and everyone has different means ". Interviewed by La Stampa, the coach has talked about his team's growth:
"Gomez, Freuler, Berisha and Toloi the only ones to remain from my first Atalanta squad? Good, means despite the role and player changes - just look at Gomez, first a forward now a trequartista - the hunger to win remains intact. I've got a defect though: I'm not good in making the club buy the players I want or keep the ones I already have".
"Between the fourth spot and the Coppa Italia, I'd choose... both, because it's nice playing such games. The most important win remains the 3-0 against Juve because if you eliminate the champions then you really can hope getting to the end".
"Me with the national team? It's a dream, but I like what Mancini's been doing so far and I hope he resolves the azzurri's issues. Regarding the top Italian teams, I'm fine with my Atalanta: I feel gratified here".
