After falling to Liverpool 5-0 at home in the Champions League, Atalanta had to face the difficult tast of recovering from the disheartening scoreline. Coach Gian Piero Gasperini spoke to Sky Sport afterwards and revealed the toll the night had taken: "There was a large gap present tonight and we must reflect on our tactical and structural aspects, at least in this sort of match. Tonight everything seemed difficult. I don't think we were afraid to face Liverpool becuase we'd come off of two good results and we faced them the way we had always done. But they were stronger than us, the gap was big. We are not the team that can press high any more, I've seen it in the league as well."
"In other circumstances you would feel like certain things need improvement, now rather we have changed the way we play. We are not keeping up the intensity, so we must keep this in our thoughts. But in the past every time we've taken a beating we've been able to pick ourselves back up."
