Is Stephan Lichtsteiner considering retirement after struggling to find space at Arsenal? The Swiss international addressed the rumors in a recent interview with Sport.ch:”I could have picked a team that guaranteed me 47 starts in 50 matches, but my choice was for a competitive club where you need to fight for a starting spot. For me being a reserve to Bellerin is unusual, but not playing a lot doesn’t bother me”

Lichtsteiner was already familiar with this type of situation:”When I arrived at Juventus I wasn’t a set starter. But I’m however certain that my time will come, but it’s clear that if at the end of the season I’m not able to sustain certain levels I could retire from Switzerland and also club teams. Athletic tests also show that I have the body of a 28 year old”
