The more you try to avoid talking about him, the more you end up doing it. Nonetheless, the pressure doesn’t seem to phase ‘Gigio’ Donnarumma. For that reason, you could consider him a phenom. After all, age doesn’t matter, at least according to Marco Amelia’s interview with TuttoSport:
‘I’ve always said that there are no young players or old players, just those who are better and those who are worst. If a player is good at 15 years old, he needs to be given space. Gigio is proving to be a keeper that can single handedly earn points for a team. Donnarumma is simply a great keeper that does great things, who plays in a great team. He still has lots of potential, giving him the chance of becoming a focal point in that role for the next 15-20 years’.
But is Gigio already a leader?: ‘He’s behaving himself well, but it all started last season. When he was called up to play he made sure to be ready. At the same time, the way he carried himself made it so that everyone trusted him. His calm attitude allow his defensive colleagues to pass it back to him in difficult times without a worry. I’d say yes, he is a leader’.
