Massimiliano Allegri is proud of his players' season. He spoke with Premium Sport: "We came here to win the Champions League and we did not succeed. We conceded a goal in the only counter-attack of the first half. In the second half, we suffered for fifteen minutes straight and crumbled under the pressure. We needed to fight tooth and nail to stay in the match. This push did not come and we have to make sure that we do it next year, but to my players, I can only say thank you."
For Allegri, the key moment of the match was Casemiro's deflected goal: "The 2-1 scoreline took our legs out from underneath us. Real Madrid has great players that showed great determination in every moment of the match. We had to play the 90 minutes like the first 50 minutes of the game. Now we have to rest because it was a long season. Life gives you the possibility to try again next season and we have to understand that we can do better. In the first half, we wasted a lot of energy with a couple of counter-attacks that should have been played with more patience."
It was a tale of two halves for Juventus: "The team was built in a certain way and we changed it because we did not have many substitutes. We had to be better to close out the first half with the lead. I have to give my compliments to Real Madrid because they played well in the second half. They increased the tempo and we had nothing left to give. They did well to be the first to the ball. We had two shots in the first 15 minutes but then we conceded on the deflected shot. We had to find the mental energy to show some resistance. We knew that Real Madrid would allow us to create some chances, but this did not happen."
Allegri is not ready to quit and wants to start again next season: "Our objective next season is have another great Champions League campaign and to win the league again. We cannot give up after the second loss in two years. It will be the motivation to return to the final and win it. This team has the quality to do so and the club knows where to improve."
