Stramaccioni-Esteghlal, set up meeting. Background Thereau…

Coming out this morning a backstage situation regarding one of the main reason of the break-point between Head Coach Stramaccioni and Esteghlal Managment concerning the French Fiorentina’s striker Cyril Thereau.

Strongly wanted in Esteghlal by Andrea Stramaccioni, he was just requesting him on 2012 in Inter Milan as a back-up of Argentinian Diego Milito and on 2014 was signed as his player in Udinese to be partner of Totó Di Natale and Luis Muriel in Bianconero. 

Today the 36 years old offensive Viola’s player, 258 games and 75 goals in Serie A, is not in the plan of mister Montella and is one year left to the end of his contract there.

After long negotiation first with Daniele Pradè and then with the player, that between the offers he has, is attracted to join his former Coach and play the Asian Champions League, the deal was done and conditions mostly agreed.

Key role in the deal come from his historical agent, Mogi Bayat, one of the most famous Iranian’s fifa Agents, always representing him since he started his career in Belgium.

But exactly when conditions with Fiorentina and Thereau was agreed on that last moment Club denied the transfer without inform the Coach.

Stramaccioni was waiting the player, that in his plan is the perfect partner of Cheick Diabate, and totally unexpectedly he was informed the deal was stopped only by the agent and not from Club, nevertheless the operation was completely inside the budget agreed with the managment for the offensive player.

One more situation out of the control of the Head Coach of Esteghlal and totally not respecting the agreements and the common ambitions between him and club.

So now, 9 days from the start of the league on Tabriz, the team is with only one foreign player (Diabate) despite the 4 allowed to sign in the League and is blocked from the rule of restriction of signing players from Persian League (just reached the limit).

After the pressure of Coach to re-open the negotiation with Thereau, is the same player to be not sure to come in Iran due to behavior of the Club.

So this situation is one more added to the others, reason why in the evening is planned a conference call between Federico Pastorello and the President of the Board mister A.H.Fatih regarding the option of mutual agreement termination of Head Coach and his staff from Esteghlal due to completely changed technical and organizational plan regarding the ambitions of the Club to be successful in Iran and competitive in Asian Champions League.
